About Me
Amy Pikler is originally from Glencoe, Illinois, where she began studying violin at age five, recorder at eight, and viola at ten. She has been a violist with the San Antonio Philharmonic since September 2022 and has also performed with the Utah Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony, Austin Symphony, and the former San Antonio Symphony.
Amy earned her Bachelor of Music degree in viola performance with highest honors from the University of Michigan, studying under Professor Yizhak Schotten. She also studied extensively with her father, Charles Pikler, retired violist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Through the San Antonio Symphony’s Community Outreach and Engagement Program, Amy coached sectionals at Lanier High School, taught a master class at John Jay High School, and gave instrument demonstrations at various schools across San Antonio. She later served as a long-term substitute orchestra director at Burbank High School, taught private lessons at multiple local high schools, and continues to run her own private music studio.

Vision and Values
I believe that anybody is capable of playing violin and/or viola no matter how young or old they start. I envision that playing violin, viola, and/or recorder should be fun all the time, and there should never be any stressful or painful moments in the learning process.
